Hey, guys - any comments/criticism on my portrayal of Kurama? Drop me a note here - I'd love to hear anything you've got to say.

Well.

The current situation is...embarrassing, to say the least.

The legendary thief, captured. The battle-hardened warrior, kidnapped.

And why? A beginner's mistake. An instant's foolishness. No less than I deserve, I'm sure a certain coarse martial artist would say (several, actually, if I'm not mistaken).

But what was I to do? Leave him behind? I don't turn my back on partners. Not anymore. And haven't I proven that, over and over again?

That's all in the past now. Now, the future is more pressing.

No guarantees - when are there ever? But reduced to offering my body as payment for freedom? Even more risky than I am letting on. The guards have thus far expressed no interest in such things. And I have nothing else.

Enough. This whole ridiculous business grates on my nerves.

What am I thinking? Do I really mean to open myself up to this complete stranger?

But his world, so like mine... And his powers so like Yusuke's...

There is a great deal of power in him, and it calls to me. Youko Kurama walks the earth again, in soul if not in body.

There is something about this world that irks me, that pulls me farther from Minamino Shuuichi with every passing day.

Most likely, it is my desire to be home again. My wariness over the power it would take to pull so many people from so many different worlds.

Something is not right, and if offering myself to Hakkai forms an alliance that I can use to fight back, I will do so. Gladly.

Things...are progressing. Perhaps not as quickly as I might like, but they are moving forward nonetheless. The trick, I think, is to avoid the locals - they are not quite helpful in this situation. And Lucretia should prove a valuable asset - she appears to be acquainted with far more of the...how did that man put it? Ah, of course. "Expatriates". As good a description as any.

It is strange, though, how some of these people remind me so strongly of home. Lucretia is, in many ways, very similar to my mother. And Jin shares a number of personality traits with a certain ill-tempered demon I know.

I wonder if any of them will show up here. I'm not sure I want them to. It would be nice to see a familiar face, to be sure, but Yusuke and Kuwabara have ever been magnets for trouble, and the loss of powers would be irritating - in the worst sense - to Hiei.

They would all mock me, to be sure, for keeping a log like this. Yusuke and Kuwabara for the inherent "girliness" of it all, Hiei for the ease with which an enemy could gain access to my thoughts.

But in a world so unfamiliar, and another instance in which I must play my cards carefully, it is nice to have somewhere to simply be.

NAME: Kurama/Minamino Shuuichi
FANDOM: Yu Yu Hakusho
TIMELINE PERIOD: Post-anime.
BACKGROUND: Kurama, for all appearances, is a normal teenage human - tall, lean, with long red hair and bright green eyes. In actuality, he is a fox-demon, thousands of years old, occupying a human body. He used to reside in the Makai, the Demon World, until a routine theft went horribly wrong. Wounded by a hunter, he used the last of his energy to transfer his soul to the barely-formed child in a human woman's womb.

Originally planning to spend only ten years in the Ningenkai, the Human World, to restore his energy, Kurama ended up loving his human mother. When she fell ill, he traveled to the Reikai, the Spirit World, to steal a treasure that would heal her - at the cost of his life.

In the process, he runs into friends he will keep for a lifetime: Yusuke Urameshi, Hiei, and Kuwabara Kazuma. His life is spared, and the Reikai lets him off the hook with the promise that he will help Yusuke and Kuwabara - who are working as Detectives for the Spirit World, tracking down demon criminals (Hiei suffers the same parole).

Much chaos ensues, involving lots of criminals, two incredibly bloody martial arts tournaments, and an ex-Spirit Detective bent on destroying the human world.

Eventually, Kurama returns to his family, determined to live the rest of his days as the gentle, soft-spoken Shuuichi Minamino.
